പുരാണ പ്രസിദ്ധങ്ങളായ നിരവധി ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളുടെ പുണ്യഭൂമിയാണ് നമ്മുടെ കേരളം. ഐതിഹ്യങ്ങൾ അതിശയമുണർത്തുന്ന ഈ അപൂർവ്വ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ ഇന്ന് നമുക്കഭിമാനമാണ്. വിശ്വാസവും സമർപ്പണവും ഒരുമിക്കുന്ന നിറഞ്ഞ ഭക്തി ഏത് ദുരിതത്തേയും അകറ്റി, മനഃശാന്തിയും ആനന്ദവുമേകി മനസ്സിനേയും ചിന്തയേയും വിമലീകരിക്കുമെന്നതിന് പുരാണങ്ങൾക്കുമപ്പുറം സഫലമായ പ്രാർത്ഥനകൾ തെളിവാണ്. എന്നും നന്മകൾ കാംക്ഷിക്കുന്ന സുമനസ്സുകളിൽ ആ ദൈവസാന്നിദ്ധ്യം ഒരിക്കലെങ്കിലും അനുഭവിച്ചറിയാത്തവരുണ്ടാകില്ല. അതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെയാണ് ആ ദേവസ്ഥാനങ്ങൾ നമ്മുടെ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട മഹാക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളായതും ആ ഈശ്വര സങ്കേതങ്ങളിൽ ഒരു ദേശത്തെ മുഴുവൻ ധന്യമാക്കുന്ന അവതാരമാണ്‌ പട്ടാമ്പിക്കടുത്ത്‌ തിരുമിറ്റക്കോട്, ഇരുങ്കൂറ്റുരിലുള്ള ശ്രീ കൊടലൂർക്കാവിലെ അഭീഷ്ടവരദനായ ശാസ്താവുവിന്റെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ. ആയിരം വർഷത്തിന് മുമ്പ് ആരാധന നടന്നിരുന്നുവെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുവാൻ പര്യാപ്തമായ സൂചനകൾ ലഭിച്ച കൊടലൂർക്കാവിനെ ഉത്തമലക്ഷണങ്ങളോടുകൂടിയ മഹാക്ഷേത്രമായി ഉയർത്തേണ്ടതിന്റെ പ്രാധാന്യം വിളിച്ചോതുന്നു.

പഴമയും പാരമ്പര്യവും സമജ്ജസമായി സമ്മേളിക്കുന്ന കൊടലൂർക്കാവിനെ അതർഹിക്കുന്ന പ്രൗഢ മഹത്വത്തിലേക്ക് ആദ്യം സ്വയം സമർപ്പിച്ച്‌ മുന്നോട്ടിറങ്ങിയത് ഇവിടുത്തെ നാട്ടുകാർ തന്നെയായിരുന്നു. തത്ഫലമായി ഇന്ന് ചടങ്ങുകളും അനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങളും പകർന്നേകിയ വർദ്ധിത ചൈതന്യത്തോടെ വിരാജിക്കുകയാണ് കൊടലൂർക്കാവിലെ കലിയുഗവരദനായ സ്വാമി.

സ്വപ്‌നവേഗത്തിലായിരുന്നു പുനരുദ്ധാരണ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ. കേരളത്തിലും വിദേശങ്ങളിലുമുള്ള ആയിരക്കണക്കിനു ഭക്തരുടെ അകമഴിഞ്ഞ സഹായം ഈ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾക്ക് പ്രചോദനമേകി. അഷ്ടബന്ധകലശം, നാഗപ്രതിഷ്ഠ, അയ്യപ്പക്ഷേത്ര നിർമ്മാണം, നടപ്പുര, തിരുമേനി ഭവനനിർമ്മാണം, ഓഡിറ്റോറിയം പ്രദക്ഷിണ വഴി മതിൽ തുടങ്ങി വൻ വികസനപ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ ഒട്ടേറെപ്പേരുടെ സഹകരണവും പ്രാർത്ഥനയും കൊണ്ട് നിറവേറ്റി കഴിഞ്ഞു. നാട്ടുകാരുടെ കയ്യും മെയ്യും മറന്നുള്ള ശ്രമദാനവും ഏത് യത്നത്തിനും തയ്യാറായിക്കൊണ്ടുള്ള സമർപ്പിത മനോഭാവം കൊണ്ട് ക്ഷേത്രചുറ്റമ്പല മേല്പുര മുഴുവൻ പൊളിച്ചുനീക്കിയ 100 ലേറെ ഭക്തരുടെ ശ്രമദാനത്തിൽ ശരിക്കും വിസ്മയിപ്പിക്കുന്ന നിർവൃതി വിശേഷമായിരുന്നു കാണാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞത്.

മലബാർ ദേവസ്വം ബോർഡിനു കീഴിൽ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ട്രസ്റ്റിബോർഡും, ക്ഷേത്രകമ്മറ്റിയും, ഒരുമിച്ച് വികസനപ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ നയിക്കുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രം തന്ത്രി കല്ലൂർ മനക്കൽ നാരായണൻ നമ്പൂതിരിപ്പാടും, മേൽശാന്തി മാവേലി നാരായണൻ നമ്പൂതിരിപ്പാടുമാണ്. എല്ലാ ഉത്രം നാളിലും ഉത്രം ഊട്ടും, കൂടാതെ അഷ്ടദ്രവ്യമഹാഗണപതിഹോമം, ലക്ഷാർച്ചന, പുഷ്‌പാഭിഷേകം, ആനയൂട്ട്, അഷ്ടമി രോഹിണി ആഘോഷം, മണ്ഡല, രാമായണമാസാചരണം, താലപ്പൊലിമഹോത്സവം തുടങ്ങി ആചാരാനുസൃതമായ ഉത്സവാനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങൾ സമയാസമയങ്ങളിൽ വൻ ജനാവലിയുടെ സാന്നിദ്ധ്യത്തിൽ ഭംഗിയായി നിവർത്തിച്ചുവരുന്നു.

ക്ഷേത്ര കലകളായ ഓട്ടൻതുള്ളൽ, ചാക്ക്യാർകൂത്ത്‌, കൃഷ്ണനാട്ടം, എന്നിവക്ക്പുറമെ ഭക്തിപ്രഭാഷണവും, ഭാഗവതസപ്‌താഹവും നടത്തിവരുന്നു. ഇന്ന് വിശ്വപ്രസിദ്ധ പ്രഭാഷകനായി ശോഭിക്കുന്ന ഉദിത് ചൈതന്യയുടെ തുടക്കം കൊടലൂർക്കാവിലെ സപ്‌താഹയജ്ഞത്തോടെയായിരുന്നുവെന്നത് ഭക്തവത്സനായ കൊടലൂർക്കാവ്‌ ശാസ്താവിന്റെ മഹാനുഗ്രഹമഹിമയെ സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

ഇത്രയും ചൈതന്യവത്തായ അനുഗ്രഹദാതാവായ കൊടലൂർക്കാവ്‌ ദേവന്റെ ആശീർവാദങ്ങൾക്ക് പാത്രീഭൂതരാകുവാൻ അത്യപൂർവ്വമായ മറ്റൊരവസരം സമർപ്പിതരായ ഭക്തമനസ്സുകൾക്ക് ഒരിക്കൽക്കൂടി കൈവരുകയാണ്. ചൈതന്യഭൂമിയായ കൊടലൂർക്കാവ്‌ ക്ഷേത്ര ചുറ്റമ്പലം കോൺക്രീറ്റിൽ വാർത്ത്‌ ഓടുമേയൽ ഇതുവരെയുള്ളതിൽ ഏറ്റവും പ്രാധാന്യമർഹിക്കുന്നതും ശ്രേയസ്സേകുന്നതുമാണ്. 20 ലക്ഷത്തിലേറെ മുതൽ മുടക്കേണ്ടിവരുന്ന ഈ സദുദ്യമം സഫലമാക്കേണ്ടത് നമ്മളോരോരുത്തരുടേയും കടമയും കർത്തവ്യവുമാണ്. ഇത്രയേറെ ശ്രേയസ്കരമായ ഒരു ദൗത്യത്തിൽ പങ്കാളികളാകാൻ ഇതുപോലൊരവസരം ഇനിയുണ്ടായിക്കൊള്ളണമെന്നില്ല.

The Kodalurkkavu Sastha temple in Irunguttur, Thirumittakode near Pattambi, Palakkad District is one those ancient great temples which is believed to have been in existence even prior to a thousand years with active worship. The archeological and ritualistic evidences available here are clearly indicative of the prominence of this temple which necessarily calls for its uplift and redemption befitting its past glory. The revived rituals and ceremonies have undoubtedly reanimated the spirit of the presiding deity of the temple unprecedently. The renovation process of the temple progressed in an accelerated pace Devotees from all over the world generously contributed and enthused the endeavor. Development activities such as Ashtabandha Kalasa, installation of the Naga idols, construction of Ayyappa temple, reconstruction of the sanctum-sanctorum (Srikovil) and construction of the compound wall, Nadappura, Thirumeni hove, auditorium and pradakshina pavement are already over mainly due to the co-operation and prayers of the devotees and blessings of the Lord. The voluntary participation of Devotees number-4. over a hundred in dismantling the roof of the deity was a blissful experience to all and sundry who witnessed the event.

The Board of Trustees in tandem with the Temple Development Committee is heading the developm mt activities of this Mahakshetra which is under the administrative control of Malabar Devawom Board. Kallur Manakkal Narayanan Namboodirippad is the Tantri and Mavehi Narayanan Namboodirippad is Cheif Priest (Melsanti) of the' temple. Rituals and ceremonies such as Uthram Oot (on the dayf every Uthram star), Ashtadravia Ganapathy Homa, Laksharchana, Pushpabhishekam, Aana Oot (feasting elephants), .Ashtami Rohini celebration, observation of Mandala and Ramayana months and Thalappoli festival are regularly being conducted here attracting masssive crowds increasingly at every occasion. The temple premises quite often host the performance of traditional temples arts such as Ottam Thullal, Chakyar Koothu and Krishnanattam. Also the temple turns venue for spiritual talks and Bhagavatha Sapthaha. That the Sapthaha Yagnas having been performed in Kodalurkava chiselled the oratorial skills of the now world - renowned spiritual master Udit Chaithanya holds key to the celestial love and protection, Lord Sastha pours over his devotees. Now, once again, an opportunity is open to the devotees of Kodalurkavu temple for selfless submission of the Lord and put their offerings at lotus feet. We are about to take up the recasting and tiling of the roof of the outer temple (chuttambala) the cost for which is estimated to be over Rs.20 Lakhs.
